When Dennis Dorgan is unexpectedly declared the loser in a boxing match against Kid Leary that he quite obviously won, he realizes something has gone amiss. The situation grows worse when his manager comes in and reveals that he has lost all his money and his ship because of the loss. When the crooked referee comes to Dorgan and tells him that the fight was fixed for a reason, Dorgan agrees to help him shake up the bad guy and straighten out the situation. Dorgan quickly learns that things aren't as they seem and finds himself in the middle of some dangerous shenanigans. Robert E. Howard (1906-1936) was an American author who made his name writing inexpensive fiction magazines known as pulp fiction. He is known as the father of sword and sorcery, a sub-genre of fantasy/historical fantasy, which involves sword-wielding heroes and violent adventures. Howard's most famous creation in this genre was Conan the Barbarian. He tragically committed suicide at the age of 30 but his name and literary legacy have lived on.
