Doug MacLeod

Come To Find Doug MacLeod Limited edition

No matter how much time you spend with Doug MacLeod, the stories of his time 'on the road' with the likes of Big Joe Turner and Pee Wee Crayton bubble up as easily as a stream tickled by a breeze. And you can tell when a good part is coming, a climax, so to speak, when Doug winks a little, his grin widens and the words come to his lips: "Come to find...".

For years, MacLeod was a widely respected electric blues guitarist and leader of his own band, which toured the USA and Europe several times and released a number of albums. Doug broke up the band to devote all his energies to his first love, the acoustic blues. "Come To Find" is the first fruit of these efforts. And now it has become even more remarkable with this 45rpm reissue on 200g vinyl from Analogue Productions. The double LP, with the music spread across four sides of the vinyl, reduces distortion and high frequency loss by allowing your pickup to follow the wider grooves more accurately.

"Come To Find" is the sound of a consummate blues musician getting to the heart of his art on this programme of ten original songs by Doug. He is well supported in this intimate setting by harmonica ace Charlie Musselwhite and the Mighty Flyer backing band of Jimi Bott and Bill Stuve. This album deserves a place of honour in the music collection of even the most casual blues fan. For the true blues fan, this is certainly one of the best records, one of the most original works you will ever hear.
