The recordings on this collection are raw and powerful. It kicks of with a rich and intense version of John Henry by William Francis and Richard Sowell. Ellis Williams and even more so Alfred Lewis take the playing of Richard Sowell even further - they employ more advanced techniques, with the merging of harp and voice. They both have a more developed sensibility.
