The Cat

Jimmy Smith

Verve Acoustic Sounds Series edition

The Cat is jazz organist Jimmy Smith's 1964 album, a notable chart-marking release that reached No. 12 on the Billboard 200. Featuring Smith on the Hammond B-3, this set has some tasteful arrangements for the big band by Lalo Schifrin, and some good playing by the great organist on a variety of other blues-oriented material.

Seeking to offer definitive audiophile grade versions of some of the most historic and best jazz records ever recorded, Verve's Acoustic Sounds vinyl reissue series utilizes the skills of top mastering engineers and the unsurpassed production craft of Quality Record Pressings. All titles are mastered from the original analog tapes, pressed on 180-gram vinyl and packaged by Stoughton Printing Co. in high-quality gatefold sleeves with tip-on jackets.
