Dressed in leather, brandishing heavy, and exhibiting an unabashed fetish for British Invasion pop, the Smithereens were an anomaly in the American college Rock scene of the late '80s. 'Blow up' is the fourth studio album by the Smithereens. It is a record, loaded with the drive and special avant-garde sixties flavor that makes The Smithereens so special. The record begins with the sharp heavy hitter 'Top Of The Pops'. There's a guest appearance by Carlene Carter on 'Get A Hold Of My Heart' and Los Lobos saxophone player Steve Berlin contributed on 'Indigo Blues'. "Blow Up" is a collection of catchy, blue-collar power Pop by one of America's most underrated bands, The Smithereens.
