The Cat Messenger

I channel cats. It isn't easy. Most the time you get just a short snippet of one of their many lives from their many incarnations. My cat Sona sent a selfie to me when I was in India. I channeled this complete incarnation from the picture he sent. In his incarnation as the spy, Guerrier, The Cat Messenger, Sona states: " I was a big yellow barn cat from a village farm north of Paris. Jean-Paul, my servant/owner, was in his teens and not very bright. We were heading to Paris to join the French Resistance and kill the Swine Nazi Pigs. We were just weeks ahead of D-Day and Jean-Paul wanted to do his part. I was literally forced to accompany him. Cats have a powerful sense of direction. His mother knew that if I came home alone her son would not be alive."Well you would think a barn cat going off to Paris would be a story in itself. But then add the element of a long brutal war, an explosion that our two protagonists barely survive, a clever prison escape, and the last days of deadly hand-to hand-street combat. The uncertainty of liberation, anger, and revenge on the streets of Paris. The wine is free and flowing in all the cafés the first few days after liberation. But wine is not enough to help Jean-Paul, so Guerrier and their new best friend Adrian make their way to a seedy opium den hoping it will help Jean-Paul's anxiety. Guerrier is always in conflict with himself because he has many un-cat like qualities: loyalty, compassion and deep attachment. Finally, back in the countryside, everyone experienced destruction and cruelty from the Nazis. Everyone is in an altered state of sorrow, trying to put their lives together again. Our Guerrier is a shadow of his former self. The war has destroyed his spirit. He smokes too many cigarettes. He's an alcoholic. He marries the love of his life, Ma Cheri. He fathers two batches of kittens. However, bad habits make for his early demise. This is Guerrier's very personal story of love, war, family life and a very noble death.
