Challenges of Internship:the Case of Akatsi Education College, Ghana: Challenges in the Management of Internship at Akatssi College of Education Thomas Kudzo Zonyra

This study took a critical look at challenges in the management of internship at Akatsi College of Education. A descriptive design was adopted. Stratified random and purposive sampling techniques were used in selecting 202 respondents. Data was collected using questionnaire and interview which was analyzed using simple percentages. Key findings are that: 1. The preparation the mentees before embarking on teaching was inadequate. 2. The key players in the implementation of the internship were not adequately motivated. 3. Duration for internship was too long. 4. Community support for the ?Out? programme was inadequate. It is therefore, recommended that the key players in the implementation of the internship should be adequately motivated. Subject tutors should do their second degree in their respective areas. The duration of internship should also be reduced to two terms. Lastly, Government should also increased the allowance of mentees so that they look for their own accommodation at their place of practice.
