As her dreams become cryptic prophecies that Anna begins sharing with Gabe, the most beautiful senior at Anacortes High, a mutual fascination quickly develops. But Anna's attention is divided when she meets Ramone, a strangely alluring local who only seems to show up after dark, and always soaking wet.

Anna finds herself turning to the stranger in her sleep when real life becomes as bizarre as her dream world. He is changing too, though-morphing from gorgeous savior to terrifying monster-and Anna can't control it. He may frighten her, but His guidance gives her answers about Gabe and Ramone that she couldn't possibly know on her own.

When Ramone saves her from an attacker at the marina with some truly incredible underwater heroics, the line between dreams and waking life is blurred, and Anna's reality takes a nightmarish turn. Is it more important for her to listen to her flesh-and-blood heart-or to the warnings of a man who exists only in her dreams?
