Fugitives from the Plague
Clyde Hedges
The year is 1248, and the black death is ravaging Europe. Between thirty and fifty percent of the total population will die. The devil's illness makes no exeption from family or classes, that Edmund of Shrewsbury learns when he awakes from a coma in his bedroom. The entire house is quiet, no one remains except for a kitchen maid, Elizabeth. From her, he learns that his entire family has died, and his parents' jewels and money have been stolen. The only thing to do is leave for Shrewsbury and his newly inherited castle. Their journey will take them through plague ravaged England. Their chances of survival are few and none.
