Maribel was sure of only one thing... life, as she knew it, was over. Dylan had yet to return, the fear burrowed deeper into her heart every day that she'd never see him again. Her blinders were off, and with every breath Mari was reminded that she wasn't really a part of the world around her. She had been thrust into foreign skin that itched and screamed to be in the ocean again. Jaron seemed to be the only person who understood what she was going through; he was learning about the true nature of their world just like her. Sylvia looked at her with hopeful eyes - hope for what, Mari was unsure. The mysterious kingdom her father ruled over lay in wait for her triumphant return, but she had no clue how she was supposed to help anyone against the sirens. The giant creatures with soulless eyes haunted her dreams, as did visions of Dylan in strange places. The mers were looking to her, their princess and the last witch in the sea, to master her powers and put up the borders that protected their kingdom. Mari was willing to risk her life for Sylvia, Dylan, and all the others... but with every new bit of information she learns about her kingdom, the more she wonders if it's worth saving at all.
