When I was in Darkest Africa

For Cyril Marchant joining the Royal Air Force during World War 2, from an office job in Brighton, meant an eventual assignment to a remote post on the coast of West Africa. Through the letters he sent home to his parents, the story of his time training in England and then his service in Africa can be told. This is not a story of combat or heroic deeds in battle. It is a story that was common to many who served during the war of doing their duty for their country. Cyril writes home about the surroundings he finds himself in, the people he meets and the events that take place and through it all the reader feels the love of a young man for his parents and his faith in God.
