INTRODUCTIONScience is a wonderful thing. I love it and through this book so will you. It is written so that if you, like many others, find science is frustratingly complicated with graphs, maths and diagrams you will delighted by this refreshing and easy to read summation of the way in which quantum theory has changed forever the way in which we view reality. You will look anew at the idea of other dimensions, the Big Bang, the human brain and time itself. You may not understand how something can be in two places at once, move faster than light, nor time can go backwards, but you will understand that nobody knows the answer to these questions anyway. Above all you will know what an incredible chapter of history you are living through. It is very clear that the world of physics has come to a crossroads not only between the two competing theories of relativity and quantum theory but also the possibility that we need a completely new direction to look in if we are to make any sense of the new and amazing discoveries, which are now almost daily. In order to put these pieces together we have to start thinking outside the box, mix philosophy with research and experience, and be prepared to think the absurd. However, before we can start to make sense of the very real possibility of other dimensions, and start to share in the incredible and awesome developments taking place we need to familiarise ourselves with what is known as the Standard Model, quantum theory and some of the fundamentals of physics. To achieve this we will assume that coincidence is involved in some way we have yet to discover. That is an exciting idea and will allow us to stay in touch with the latest developments. It may be unpopular with those who treat science as static and unchanging but that matters not as one of the things we know is that every scientist worth his salt from John Wheeler to Richard Feynman will tell you again and again that nobody knows the answer to the most important questions anyway. So sit back, take your time and check it all out by visiting any of the sites referred to and placed at the back of the book.
