John Winslow, hailed by all to be the harbinger of the new Camelot, had it all. Midway through his first and only term, disaster struck. After losing his wife and one of his twin daughters in a terrorist bombing, his remaining daughter committed suicide in the heart of the White House. Still reeling from these mortal blows, John is knocked out of the running by the biography on his late wife, written by her vengeful sister. Blaming him for everything and painting him a complete sham, he is defamed and utterly demoralized. Swearing off politics, and wanting only to bury himself away from the public eye, he moves to small-town Fortune Springs, Nevada to begin the painful process of putting his life back together and his demons to rest. He crosses paths, and swords, with Fortune Springs' one and only architect, Regina Cauffield, who is on the same personal journey, with a mirror image past to John's own. As if their personal antagonism isn't enough, there are other obstacles being thrown in their way; dark figures from John and Reggie's pasts are working hard to destroy not only Reggie and John, but the entire town of Fortune Springs, as well
