May B.

An impoverished childhood convinced hardworking accountant May Wilderson that money and career are all that matter. She gives everything to her job and puts all her money into savings. Her only social life is a little flirty conversation with the cute janitor when she collects the receipts on Friday nights. So when an unqualified assistant is promoted over her, May is incensed and decides to quit playing by the rules. She risks all her assets in an underhanded venture to make a profit at public expense. May buys a derelict house full of junk, planning to fix it up and rent it out before the state condemns it for a right of way. The cute janitor, a disco-dancing psychic, a teenaged health food chef, a Jesus-loving fitness trainer, an eco-warrior fashionista, a soccer mom opening a low-income daycare and a brilliant landscaper - who looks awfully good with his shirt off - transform her property into an oasis of green economic innovation and right livelihood. Just when she's risked everything, the state project stalls and it looks like May might lose it all. But May's scheme catches the attention of a devious CEO who wants to use her talent and capital for his own ends. He offers her a way out and the opportunities she's always wanted. She jumps at the chance, despite the warnings of her friends. As she pursues this new path, May discovers illegal consequences that will destroy her new-found community, but give her a leg up the corporate ladder. She must decide if money and success are worth losing her integrity. Is she making a good living if she profits from the misfortune of others?
