Development Potentials and Obstacles: a Geographical Discourse on Dacope Thana, Khulna

This research book is an output to find development condition, potentiality and obstacles of Dacope thana, khulna (an administrative unit of Bangladesh). The study based on people opinions and theoretical knowledge. Due to poor natural resource endowment and socio-economical status people of the developing countries like Bangladesh can not enrollment to develop their economy. This book will help to the policy makers who want to implement development strategies based upon assessing local opportunities and barriers. The research also carried out an in-depth analysis of different micro development obstacles of the thana like- regular occurrence of tropical cyclone, high riverbank erosion, high population growth rate, less literacy rate, poor per capita income, poor infrastructure including road network and communication etc. Besides the different social and environmental obstacles, it is encouraging that, the thana has many potential sectors such as locational situation of the Sundarbans, Mongla EPZ ans Sea port, practicing Shrimp Cultivation, Multi cropping culture, High young population group etc. All of these added new dimension to accelerate the development progress of the thana.
