This is the third book in the Intrepid series, it is based on a true story that unfolds in post war Britain. It is 1952 and the young protagonist, Horace Gray, has incurred the wrath of Shamus Mulligan, the boss of an international crime syndicate. Brian Fisher, a small cog in the syndicate's machinery, murdered Horace's boss and close friend Gordon Rush. Horace is determined to get his revenge but Fisher disappears. Meanwhile, the syndicate seeks out Horace to try to eliminate him because of his continued interference in its activities. The events that ensue lead Horace and his uncle to work even more closely with the secret service to help themthwart the syndicate along with other criminal gangs. Horace finds himself teetering precariously on a knifeedge between criminality and law and order. Which way will he fall?
