Andrew Johnson

Andrew Johnson (1808 - 1875) became President in 1865 after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, and governed during the beginning of the Reconstruction Era following the Civil War. Prior to becoming President, Johnson served as Governor of Tennessee and as a Member of both the United States Senate and House of Representatives. This work brings together President Johnson's four State of the Union Addresses delivered between 1865 and 1868.
