We live in a society that simultaneously condemns and celebrates political correctness, a society in which the struggle for civil rights is ongoing. However, through careful and respectful reflection, we can find mindful solutions to these problems, and we can support those who endure discrimination on a daily basis.



Created Equal is a collection of the thoughts and insights of Zen student and meditation instructor Robert W. Sendling. Through his honest examinations of the experiences of historical agitators, brave women, and LGBT/Q activists, he provides hope that social justice is not beyond our reach.



He tackles important civil-rights issues such as reproductive freedom, equal rights in the workplace, universal suffrage, and the importance of intersectionality among women of color and the LGBT/Q community. Sendling examines the role of politics and fundamentalism in creating and sustaining discrimination against minorities. However, he also shines a light on one of the most dangerous consequences of social inequity and the fear it fosters-domestic abuse.



In addition to urging us to approach our society's most painful issues mindfully and with kindness, Created Equal includes numerous resources and much useful advice for those trying to break free of abuse and find a safe haven.
