A collection of 300 contemporary prayers on a theme of engaging with the world in prayer, one of the primary functions of the Church. The prayers take us from the beginning of each day through to journeying together in our daily lives and our interactions with others we meet along the way, in our travelling, our work and recreation. They also address some of the difficult and pressing concerns that we face in this generation, such as a growing refugee crisis, terrorism, inequality, issues of injustice and modern slavery, the inevitability of growing old, loneliness, dementia and caring for those in need. There are also some Celtic-style blessings included. John Birch is a Methodist local preacher and leader of worship based in South Wales, and an experienced writer of prayer resources. He is the author of 'The Act of Prayer', a comprehensive volume of contemporary prayers published by BRF (Bible Reading Fellowship) based on themes arising from the three-year-cycle of readings in the Common Lectionary used by many churches, along with many other Bible study and prayer resources self-published online on his website faithandworship.com which has a world-wide following. Prayers written by John Birch have been translated into Swedish, used in books published by the Leprosy Mission, several denominational magazines and even formed the basis for several choral works.
