Quantifying Components of the Hydrologic Cycle in Virginia Using Chemical Hydrograph Separation and Multiple Regression Analysis (U.s. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report 2011?5198)
U.s. Department of the Interior
The purpose of this report is to present the results of a study to quantify components of the hydrologic budget on a large number of watersheds across the entire Commonwealth of Virginia, and use the results to estimate hydrologic budget components for all of Virginia?s counties and independent cities. These components include precipitation, surface runoff, infiltration, total evapotranspiration (ET), riparian ET, groundwater recharge, and base flow or groundwater discharge, and are calculated using long-term average values (1971?2000) from mean precipitation data, and base-flow separation data from 2007?2008.
