Eve of Magic

The birth of magic. An ill-fated prophesy. An open door to world annihilation. A true hero. Eve, once the most powerful sorceress of all time, laments her fading power, her crumbling empire -- Sarad Major -- and her fading renowned beauty inside the walls of Sarad Moor castle. Also weighing heavily upon her mind and invading her dreams is the knowledge of the impending fate which would befall every living creature of her realm. For many centuries, Eve searched for a way to stop it, looking in dark places for an answer -- any answer. Finally, a way presented itself. But, at what cost? Dahltas, last of the Welk -- a people destroyed by Eve, save for one male child -- is brought to Sarad Moor Castle to be raised by Eve's long-time head castle matron, Onyx, and tutored by the wise old wizard Tacs. Speculation flourishes regarding the mysterious relationship between Eve, Tacs, and Onyx, yet all remain silent as to voice one's opinion regarding the matter is forbidden and may result in one's death. Every night at half past eight, the great wizard Tacs tucks young Dahltas into bed with a story meant to both entertain the young Welk, and also to instruct him as to a secret refuge the old wizard has devoted his life to protect. In time, the young Welk earns Eve's respect and she names him Prince of Sarad Major -- over her own dejected son, Ircrus. And thus begins the Welk's journey in which he not only surpasses Eve's expectations as Prince of Sarad Major, but through his selfless sacrifice, he saves the lives of all.
