My memories of Southfields, right from the 1950s, have always been imbued with deep affection, an area with a hearty community, with all you could possibly need on a day-to-day basis, and so connected to nearby towns and the city.

I was born in Wimbledon Park Road, not far from the exciting Wimbledon Park, where my siblings and I spent many a happy afternoon. Did you know that Capability Brown designed those beautiful grounds, the golf course, the fish-filled lake, and all the scenic grounds? I still feel a deep connection with dear old Southfields, accentuated because I taught at the local school. Who could ask for more in their home village?
