Architects Kanner
Marc Notes: Dist. by D. A. P.; Includes bibliographical references. Publisher Marketing: From Puma flagship stores worldwide to community gymnasiums, from an iconic gas station to homes both opulent and affordable, the Southern California firm Kanner Architects creates rational, humane and inspiring environments with distinct personalities. Founded and nurtured over 60 years, the firm brings the optimism and adventurousness of its home region to sites the world over. This survey of 11 recent projects - built and in development - demonstrates the harmony of proportion and easy flow of space that marks the Kanner approach. The firm's buildings are light - they seem to float and they find the sun, exploiting natural light. Third-generation architect Stephen Kanner solves problems with a timeless appeal more mindful of content than style. Extensively researched and thoroughly fashioned, these designs address each project uniquely. Contributor Bio: Webb, Michael Webb is a writer photographer and writes often for architecture publications.
