The Traveling Jesus Roadshow
Stephen Brown
A discontented Peter McCloud contemplates his office job, employers and romantic relationship when a large mold growing in his office window is recognized by a local zealot as looking like Jesus. Interpreted as a Sign from God, word of the mold spreads through the religious underground. The multi-national consumer goods company for whom Peter works is appalled upon discovering that the resulting national publicity has led to a giant tent city of pilgrim/merchants (dubbed the Traveling Jesus Roadshow) encamping outside the company's building, selling Jesus-related merchandise such as "What Would Cheesus Do?" fondue sets and Shroud of Turin beach towels. Unable to remove the Mold out of fear of offending the religious community, the company finds itself stuck. Inspired, Rebecca-Peter's ruthless corporate ladder climbing girlfriend-steals the idea of a soap made in the shape of the Jesus Mold from a colorful Roadshow merchant and uses it to get promoted. Disgusted at the company's exploitation of the faithful and their abuse of him personally, Peter sets out to undermine the company's Jesus soap product-a task made all the more complicated when Rebecca is set up to head the launch of the new Jesus soap.
